- Educate attendees about the history, progress and qualifications of the Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Nerve injury: From Signal Transduction to Socio-economical Consequences
- Describe how a nerve injury is a cellular injury and time-dependent alterations in intracellular signals in neurons and Schwann cells should be considered by the treating surgeon; thus, timing of surgery is crucial.
-Identify challenges of nerve defects.
- Explain how nerve injuries have profound impact on the patients with high costs for The Society.
- Describe the significance of brain plasticity, particularly during the rehabilitation phase.
- Recognize that individual treatment of patients is a key issue and coping strategies should be taken into consideration.
Arthroplasty of the Hand and Wrist - New Trends and Concepts
- Describe the Swedish experience of Total Wrist Arthroplasty including results from a multi-center study of the Re-Motion implant.
- Provide preliminary results from a recently presented DRUJ-implant.
- Present a new implant for MCP-joint arthroplasty based on the Brånemark Titanium Screw fixation.
