201 Precourse 09: Management of Wrist and Carpal Fractures

This course will concentrate on complex fractures of the wrist and Carpus. Topics which will be explored will include Scaphoid fractures, radiographic imaging, surgical options including the percutaneous techniques, vascularized bone grafts and the role of arthroscopy. The session will also include a review of complex carpal injuries such as perilunate dislocations, axial carpal injuries and other bony ligamentous injuries involving the carpal bones. There will be panel discussions and time will be allowed for audience participation and interactive discussion.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize Scaphoid fractures, the type of Scaphoid fractures, the role of imaging and surgical options
- Identify and understand complex Carpal injuries and the appropriate management of them
