Four upper extremity surgeons who care for professional and high-level athletes will present their perspective on the care of injuries to the elbow wrist and hand.
Learning Objectives: - Review injuries involving the hand and upper extremity with particular emphasis on the high performance athlete.
- Recognize pertinent anatomy and mechanism of injury.
- Describe the important aspects of the physical examination in sports injuries.
- Discuss radiographic assessment along with the use of special studies to confirm the diagnosis.
- Design a plan of treatment in the athlete, including surgical or nonsurgical options.
- Outline post-operative protocols along with emphasis on return to play.
